November and December were fabulous, full of all sorts of events and memories! Our friends Alison and Kyle were sealed in the temple with their little boy Aiden, Stephanie and Dan's wedding was in November, and Amy and Luke's wedding was in December! Love love love! We love spending time with our friends for these wonderful events.
Dugan and I were AWESOME about getting our Christmas shopping done early. I would have to say that was my proudest moment of the Christmas season. I only had school until the 18th, and then Dugan and I were off on our adventure for the Christmas break. Our trip consisted of: Going to Memphis, then flying into New York, and ending the trip in Connecticut. Yes, that was over a week of nonstop adventures, and 7 flights, meaning 7 stressful take-offs and landings for Dugan. Let's just say that we won't be flying like that anytime soon. I always enjoy flying, but when you are with someone who does not, and gets sick easily, well it ends up making the time in the air go by that much slower. BUT each destination was worth it.
Our first stop was to Memphis to visit Dugan's twin sister Megan and Paul and the kids for Christmas. Memphis is a fun little town, as you make sure you stick to the fun parts of it. They live in Germantown which is GORGEOUS! I was obsessed with the beautiful brick homes, and how quaint everything looked. I wish they made houses like that out here in Utah! We were able to visit Elvis' home at Graceland, and see other great sites, along with great food. We were there with the family until the day after Christmas. I loved being able to spend time with Megan and the kids and to see their house in person. It was my first Christmas away from home, but it was worth it to be with Dugan and the family.
After Memphis, we flew up to New York where we met up with my parents, Braden and Cindy to spend a few days in the city before we went to Connecticut. I love being in New York! This was my second visit there, and the first time was a nice sunny warm summer, versus this cold, windy, winter visit. I was so excited to be there with the Christmas season still in the air. I have always wanted to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Square, and I was so happy to see it, even though it was on it's last breath. We visited so many other places, including my favorite, Serendipity. We also went to the World Trade Center Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and so on. It was great to have dad as the tour guide, since he is the one who lived there in Manhattan on his mission. The two days there were exhausting, but worth the trip!
After the second day, we rented a car to drive up to Connecticut for our cousin Elizabeth Hopkinson's wedding. I wish we could have spent more time in Connecticut, because it was so pretty up there, even in the winter. The wedding could not have been more perfect, and Elizabeth was gorgeous in her dress. Growing up, the Hopkinsons came to visit us a lot in Utah, and I hadn't seen Elizabeth in years. Her mother, Debra was out in Utah for my wedding, so I have seen her recently, but it was so fun to spend all of that time with the other Crump relatives that live on the east coast, that we do not get to see often.
After the long trip, it was time to head home on the grueling flights. ( I sure wish we could afford nonstop flights... one day...)
We were so exhausted by the time we got home, that the next day was New Year's Eve, and we ended up just crashing at home after dinner with the family.
1. Both graduating from the U with our Master's Degrees.
2. Trip to Disneyland in the summer.
3. Dugan taking and passing his licensing exam.
4. Dugan hired on as a therapist at Highland Ridge.
5. Our fabulous Christmas Vacation to Memphis, New York, and Connecticut.
2014 will be full of changes and new adventures that we still have no idea what could happen. Let's see how many times I can update my blog with everything that happens!
